This is about Michael whose mother was abused by his step-dad. So he stays in a lot more to protect his mom because he doesn’t want her to be injured obviously. So he quits the football team which used to be his life t obe at the house. But one thing about this story is that it goes back and forth from present time to a year ago so it is like telling two stories in one. So in the present time Michael is a carnie going by a fake name. He comes back to Florida and sees how his mom is on trial for the murder for his step dad. He is also looking for another carnie who he fell in love with but then left the carnival. Michael: A high school student how ran to the carnival and is the main character. Mom: Michael’s mom who was abused by her second husband and was put on trial for the murder of the same man. Walker: Michael’s step-father who abused his wife and was killed. Karpe: Michael’s childhood friend that comes back and helps him profusely throughout the story.
